Terms of use

Mise is built and run by Claudia and Simon. The legal entity, its address, and the law these terms fall under are still to be confirmed. Until then, reach us through the contact page.

Mise plans a week of meals for your household: it suggests recipes, scales them to the people eating, builds a shopping list, and helps you cook. It is a planning tool, not a nutritionist, a doctor or a grocer.

Nutrition figures and cost estimates are exactly that — estimates, calculated from recipe data and average prices, with the coverage shown where it matters. Use them to steer, not to dose.

Mise records your household’s allergies and flags allergens it knows about in recipes. That knowledge comes from recipe data, and recipe data can be wrong or incomplete. Brands change formulations, shared kitchens cross-contaminate, and a swap you make can bring an allergen back in.

Always read the label on what you actually buy, and check the dish yourself. Mise is not medical advice, and it must not be the only thing standing between someone in your house and a reaction. If someone has a serious allergy or a medically-directed diet, follow your clinician, not the app.

Cooking times, temperatures and storage windows are guidance. Use your judgement and your senses.

You need an account to use Mise. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, give us a real email so we can reach you about your subscription, and let us know if something looks off with your account.

Inviting someone into your household gives them full editing access to your plan, shopping list, household members, favourites and settings. Only invite people you trust with all of it. The household owner keeps control of billing and invitations.

• Every account starts with a 30-day free trial. No card is needed to begin, and we’ll warn you in the app before it ends.
• After that Mise is $59 a year (about $4.92 a month) or $7.99 a month. One subscription covers your whole household.
• Payment is taken by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time from the billing screen — Mise stays available until the period you’ve paid for runs out.
• If a payment fails, Stripe retries it over the next few days. Until it goes through, Mise asks you to update your payment method before you carry on — nothing is deleted.
• If your trial ends or a subscription lapses, your data isn’t deleted. Mise is paused until you subscribe — you can still read these terms and the privacy policy and get in touch — and everything is where you left it.

A refund policy and the notice period for price changes are still to be confirmed.

We can set an account to read-only, or pause it, if something is wrong — an unpaid subscription, a suspected problem with the account, or misuse. Read-only means you can see everything but not change it. Paused means access stops. In both cases your data stays put, and getting in touch is the way back.

The Mise recipe library, and the app itself, belong to us. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use them while your account is active. Don’t copy the library out to republish it elsewhere.

Recipes and notes you write stay yours. You give us permission to store and display them so the app can work — inside your household, and nowhere else unless you ask. Please only add content you have the right to add.

If we’ve connected a grocery service, Mise can hand your shopping list over so you can order it. The order, the payment and the delivery are between you and them, under their terms — we’re not part of the transaction. We may earn a commission when you buy through those links, which doesn’t change your price and doesn’t change what the app recommends.

Use Mise for your own household. Don’t try to break into other people’s data, scrape the recipe library, resell access, or use the app for anything illegal. We can suspend an account that does.

Mise is a small product made by two people. We’ll keep it running and keep it backed up, but we can’t promise it will never be down, never lose a suggestion, or always match what’s in your fridge. The app is provided as it is.

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you’ve paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that can’t be signed away.

You can stop using Mise whenever you want: cancel the subscription from the billing screen, and ask us to delete your data if you want it gone — see Privacy. We can end an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, and we’ll tell you why.

We’ll update this page as the product changes and move the date at the top. If a change materially affects what you’re paying for, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
